hi everyone,
i am currently running 72 gallon mixed reef with a pretty stocked setup (fish and corals). i have a Aqua C in sump skimmer that is rated up to 75 gallons. i found a good deal on a Eshop psk 150 (100-150 gallons) and i am on the fence about getting it. do you think that with my current bioload (heavy), i should get the larger skimmer or keep it the same? pros and cons would be helpful.

by the way. the footprint of the new system will fit in to my existing sump. i dont necessarily need to upgrade, but think it may improve my water quality for the fish and corals.thanks everyone.

Can't go wrong with bigger. The bigger will clean up the water much better.

Can't go wrong with bigger skimmer. If its in your means I always suggest to get a skimmer twice the tank volume or one up on skimmer size.

I've had both....I don't think any eshopps skimmer would be better than any aqua c. I dropped $150 on an eshopps and sold it for half after it skimmed virtually nothing but bubbly clear water.

I def say u want to one up on ur tank and go bigger. My SupperReef Octopus hy-2000 is rated for 140 gallons and I have a 90 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. So I would go with the eshopp or a type of Octopus skimmer. IMO

I've had the eshopps psk150 on my old 75g and it wasn't a bad skimmer for me and skimmed pretty good. The break in period took a little more than 2 weeks and once it broke in it was pulling some dark gunk out with no problems. The newer PSK skimmers use Sicce pumps so I can imagine they work a bit better than the older pumps too.

I'm running a modded Bubble Magus NAC77 with two Sicce PSK-1000's on my 120 currently and love it! I would recommend if you can go larger then do it!
