I just upgraded my Red Sea 170 Max to a Planet Aquarium 87 Gallon with a 25 Gallon Sump. So this is my first tank with a sump. The install has been a nightmare. All of my bulk heads have been leaking. I think i got that under control. Next problem was my lfs did not give me the correct plumbing so today i had to go out and buy all new plumbing. My question is how will i know that i wont have my bulkheads leaking as soon as i put more water in it. Is this a common problem.

Did you make sure the rubber gasket was installed correctly? I had that problem when I set up my newest tank and it happened to drip from the spot just above my controllers power bar and fried it. I drained the overflow and took it out. Turned out the rubber piece had ridges on one side and I had it on upside down, causing a leak. Ensure it’s put on properly and then tighten the bulkhead by hand and turn it about a half turn with a wrench. Too much and you’ll break the glass. Once this is done I’d fill just the overflow box to make sure it doesn’t leak anymore.
