Hey all! I have a 10 Gallon nano that has been up and running for 1 1/2 - 2 years now and I wanted to upgrade for a few reasons.
1) I have an old 20 gallon sitting around with nothing in it, so I said, what the heck
2) My 10G is loaded with expanding coral and I think they need some more room. I only have a bonded pair of chocolate clowns in there, along with a clean up crew.
So, this is what I have in mind, right now...all advice is welcome and I do have a question at the bottom of the page...
I have 10 lbs of live rock in my 10G right now and I already bought another 7.5 lbs of dry dead rock to add to the 20. I am also saving, at least 10 gallons of old water from my water changes and adding that to 10 gallons of fresh. I bought a bottle of Dr. Tim's Nitrifying Live Bacteria to add to the 20, as well (It can't hurt, right?). I do not plan to add any more fish...maybe just some additional clean-up crew members.
My question is about the sand...Do I use the old sand and wash it out or add completely new sand? If using new sand, should I use live or dry? (I'm trying to do everything I can to avoid a cycle.
