Upgrading a 120g to 150g transfer questions.

I will have about a week to do this. We will be in the middle of replacing floors. One part of the house will have new floors installed one weekend and the new tank(150g) set in place. Then the next week I will need to have the section of floors replaced where the old tank(120) currently set.

How should I go about doing this?

My plan:

Set new tank up.

Add the 30ish gallons of NSW and 30lbs of cycled new live rock (cycled in a container a week before via bioblocks from old tank and Dr. Tim's) to the new tank.

Add some new sand to the new tank.

A bottle of Dr. Tim's to new tank

Remove fish/corals to containers.

Place current live rock into new tank.

Add a little bit of the old sand.

Transfer old tank water to new tank.

Transfer the fish/coral a few hours later after Acclimation.

Use as much new water as you can IMO. You're going to stir up a bunch of stuff and there's no reason to use the old water. Just make sure all parameters match and use at least 50% freshly mixed. I'd then get the tank going with the new rock and old rock, ghost feed a bit and test for ammonia in 24 hours before adding livestock back to be sure you're not going to go through a mini cycle.

I've done the same thing. I dosed twice the dr. Tim's and didnt lose 1 fish or coral.

My idea with the old water is to have as close to original parameters as possible. I would use a 100 micron or smaller sock to transfer the water.
