How can I upgrade from a 30 gallon tank into a 75 allon tank without killing my fish and all of my corals.
Should I reuse my sand?
Should i just add my tank water plus new water and go with it.
Im just not very sure how to do the upgrade?
Any help is appreciated
Thanks Jon

The way I did my upgrade was to get my new tank in place and running first. new sand, rock and equipment. I placed some of the rock from the old tank in the new one but not too much. Added DR.tims one and only with some ammonia and waited for it to cycle. Once it had done this I loaded up my fuge with as much LR from my other tank as I could. Drained most of the water from my old tank and placed my livestock in a few 5 gal buckets and drip acclimated everything to the new tank. Added everything once it was done and all is well.

I would get new sand. Seed the new sand with a cup of the old stuff. Use some rock from the 30 gallon as well. Let it cycle for a few weeks and if you are using dry rock it will keep the cycle very minimal and then add stuff from your old tank to the new one. I slowly upgraded and borrowed a fellow reefer's light for my old tank and slowly moved stuff from the old to the new and put my good light over the new tank.

Beginning of the year I upgraded from a 30 cube to a 90.
I purchased half a bucket of live sand and 60 lbs of live rock from another reefer. I cycled the sand and rock along with 30 lbs of dry rock and 50 lbs dry sand from Marco rocks.
After 2 weeks, I emptied the 30 contents into a rubber maid and added the rock to the 90. I then added the corals, nem and clowns. No deaths.

Use some of the current sand with the new sand. Do a couple larger water changes and use that water in the new tank. You can add new saltwater to the larger tank and you wont get much of a cycle.
