Upgrading from an 85 to 150 with ich.

Hey everyone like the title says, I’ll be upgrading from an 85 to 150 gallon tank and my current tank has ich. Current fish are showing no symptoms of ich because I keep the parameters in check and feed well so they’re happy and healthy. I know I need to fallow for 76 days and I’ll probably go 90 to be sure. I have a quarantine tank for the fish and another for corals and inverts that I should be transferring soon once I test parameters of the QT tanks.

For the new tank I have 80 pounds of new rock (corallife)

to add to the current 80 pounds in my DT tank now and I’ll be adding 150 pounds of new sand. My question is, how would I go about doing this upgrade in a way to prevent ich or other parasites into my new DT. I want to keep the current 80lbs of live rock from my tank and add 80 gallons or so of current water to the new tank to mitigate tank cycling. Am I on the right track or is there something else I should consider?
 
Why would you upgrade knowing you have ich? if you wanted to you could put them in the new tank with nothing else except some pvc piping for hiding spots and treat your fish in there. You may not see symptoms of ich on your fish but it doesn't mean there isn't any on them, and they could get in with so much as a drop of water from the other tank. Just keep them in the current tank or take them out and use your big tank as qt. Adding sand and live rock will mess with treatments depending on what you're using. also if you dont notice symptoms because of params your fish probably still have ich just not severely, it only takes a little bit of stress or one param to change and then you have an ich outbreak

Apparently you didn’t read my whole post or I wasn’t specific enough... the current fish and corals will be quarantined for 90 days in designated QT tanks. And I’m well aware that fish can have ich without noticeable signs ie, that’s why I said I know my tank has ich but currently showing no signs. I appreciate the feed back but none of your response helped. Next...

Once you are through the fallow period on the existing rock and water it should be safe to move over to the new tank. Same with corals and inverts. After the fish have gone through your preferred ick treatment (lots of post on that) then they are good to go. Transferring the existing rock after the 76 days would help out greatly with the cycle. There are some articles on aerosol transmission and having your fish qt at least 10ft away from coral/invert is recommended.

Thank you for the response. I just noticed my post might be a little confusing because I inserted the pics in between the texts after I made a correction. My QT tanks are in the garage and the new display is replacing the current DT in the exact same place in my living room so hopefully there will be no aerosol transmission. You pretty much gave me the answer I was looking for but on top of that I have this question. Would this scenario work, I remove all fish, inverts, coral, put them in their designated QT tanks and treat fish accordingly. While that process is going on, tear down existing DT, replace with new, insert existing rock and water at the same time the new stuff goes in, let the new tank fallow for 76-90 days while beneficial bacteria builds and parameters stabilize or would you completely throw that idea out the window and go with the scenario you recommend?
 
If it was me. I would just let it sit fallow. As I approach the end of the fallow period I would take the existing rock out and try and clean the rock of as much detritus I could. Wether that is scrubbing it or shaking off. Just do the best you can. Then I would aquascape the new tank before filling the tank with water with the existing rock and the new rock. Get it just how you like it. Personally, I don’t know how much I would trust keeping the bacteria levels present to not cause at least a mini cycle when you add your fish, so I would get the aquascape just right even if it’s dry for a day or two. Then start adding things back slowly and keep an eye on ammonia and nitrite and what not.

Then remove the rocks, coral, inverts from your existing DT and add to the new tank and rocks. That new tank would need to be left fallow for at least 76 days prior to returning your treated fish. With well seasoned rock going into the new DT, I would think you would have minimal issues with a mini cycle. Need to watch it close however.

Thank you Smo. I thought very hard before posting and this was probably the best scenario I could come up with. Kinda killing two bird with one stone type of thing.
