I'm considering upgrading from my Rapid LED Onyx fixtures to something a little more high end but I don't wan't to completely break the bank. Any suggestions. I have a 180 Mixed reef.

Personally I would go with a Radion, but one of the older generations. They are great lights and you can pick one up for relatively cheap now that the newer models are out.

Why are you moving away from the Onyx? What did you like about them? Any issues?

I loved the onyx just wanted something with more control. I think ive narrowed it down to either the hydra or the Radion

Can you tell me a little more about the control? I thought you could control the separate channels? What do you mean by more control?

The reason I ask is that I'm looking for a cheap light that holds it's own, I think of the Onyx as that light. I will use it to extend viewing times or perhaps for a frag tank. So it doesn't have to be super high end.

Any thoughts?

The Onyx has 2 models. a standard one that is just on and off and then the controlable on. The controlable one has 3 chanels white, blue, and everything else. BUT they dont make a controller for itr you have to use a reef keeper or apex on the unit. I've also heard that the controlable version is a little touchy on lower voltages.
