So for the past couple years I’ve been using an RO Buddie + DI. It’s served me well but it was time to upgrade to something a little bigger and more automated. When the Aquamaxx drawing started on R2R I found what I wanted. Of course I didn’t win so had to purchase. Thanks again Daniel@R2R for not picking me! Anyway, the new unit arrived yesterday so I’ve been getting it hung and flushed for service this evening. So now I’ve got the 4 stage 100gpd deluxe model plus I recently got the dual BRS DI canisters. So 3 DI mixed bed canisters. I still need to mount the BRS unit but I’m almost done flushing the membrane. TDS before resin is now showing 5ppm. With 3 DI chambers I might try doing 1 with cation, 1 anion, and last mixed to see what is being depleted quicker then adjust for minimal cartridge changing.
Thoughts?

If you are sending 5 tds into a mixed di cartridge, it should produce around 900 gallons of 0 tds water before it needs to be changed. If not changing cartridges is your goal, then 3 mixed beds in a row might be your best bet. Once the first one starts becoming depleted, it may stay at 1 tds for hundreds of gallons. Depending on how many gallons it takes to creep up to the 5 that is coming out of the ro membrane, the second cartridge may last for over 2000 gallons. Throw the third one into the equation and you could get up to 4000 or 5000 gallons before you need to change all three. You would need to buy a tds meter to install between each cartridge to keep tabs on the tds or do a manual reading periodically.
I have never done this, just basing it off what I think will happen.

That’s a lot of water. I may just leave all 3 as mixed if that’s the case. Guess we will see. First 40 gallons was full this this morning. Transferred it to the salt side and now filling the RO/DI side again. Much faster than what I had before. Pleased so far.
