That's right I'm upgrading my tank by 1200%, from a 10 gallon to a 120. Doesn't sound as dramatic when you just say upgrading to a 120. But here we go.

So the 10 gallon was set up over a year ago as a temporary tank until we moved until our own place. So 8 months after moving in I was finally able to get a bigger tank, a 120 gallon reef ready, it was literally the largest tank I could fit in my car.

More to come, going to try to get wood for three stand thus weekend if I can find a truck to borrow

10 to a 120, that's like upgrading from a geo metro to a bughatti veyron :p following along for the build! :)

Ok to keep things going until I start my stand here my RO/DI system I just got in to replace my ro buddie rated at 200 gpd but I'm only getting like 67 out of it, I need to get a booster pump. Also had to replumb it cause the way it came was stupid. Have some more gear comming in the next few days, so more to follow

Ok had some spare plywood laying arround so I cut out the foot print of my stand to see how my sump will look

Fits in that spot nice. Going to have to build the stand larger than the tank too since the sump and ATO container are longer than 48 inches. This will give me room for more stuff and upgrade to a larger tank.

Going to HD today to get wood for the stand, going to be using the RocketEngineer design with 2x6 for the top.

More to come

Great start!!

Looking good so far, two questions for ya

1) are you ok with the window behind the tank allowing natural light into the reef as the sun sees fit (vs. you controlling photoperiod yourself)? I've noticed that the glass on the side of my tank closest to the window gets more algae than the other sides.

2) what's in the carboy?

Not much choice on the window, anywhere in the house that has room for the tank there's a window. Will be painting the back of the tank and closing the curtains.

And yes that's my beer/wine/cider/mead making stuff in the background. I have a 1/2 barrel conical too that you can't see. And there's some mead in the carboy.

I wouldn't worry too much about the window, especially since it's behind the tank and you're painting it black. My tank is across from huge windows and gets tons of sunlight all day.

Looking good. Im also upgrading to a 120 now. Moving out of a 40b.
