Hello All,

I am Upgrading my tank i need new LEDs selection is down to 3.

My upgrade is a 130g with the dems of 4'x30"x22" rimless mixed reef.

I am looking at the

Radion Gen4 x2 ( which i feel are over price )

AI 26's x 4 to limit shadows.

Maxspect Ethereal x3.

Does anyone know of long term success with growth with any of these led fixtures esp if i decide to go sps heavy in the future? A big plus for me with these fixtures if the customization with the software these fixtures come with EX reeflink...

Have you seen the Photon-V2 or Aquasanrise Plus? 2 of the 24" sizes for either light mounted perpendicular to the tank would be a great fit on a tank that size, they use Cree LEDs, have 6 control channels, and include mounting legs. The Aquasanrise lights can be programmed using your smartphone, or right on the front of the light using the screen.

I have the AI hydra 26 HD's and I am impressed with the growth, I felt as you do that the radions are a bit over priced. The maxspect it a good light also, but in the end I wanted the hydra's for the price, power, and so that I could customize the mounting.

would i get the r90 or the r60?

They are brand new, so very few people have them as of yet. They have been tested for some time though at the factory, and their layout can be customized.

2 of the R60 would be my recommendation, however that is assuming the tank is 30" front to back, not top to bottom?

Yes my tank is 30 front to back and 22 tall and 4 feet long. 2 R60 would be able to grow sps ?

If you go with Ecotech, there's no need for the larger fixture. Maybe if your tank was deeper. Look at their smaller models.

AI 26's is a good option IMO...I'd consider 6 or 8 Primes on the same basis, but as maybe even better.

If you want to consider Maxspect, I'd go with a Razor.

I'm sure the Reef Breeders solution is equally worthy of consideration.

But considering your concern for coverage....meaning too many shadows....that's what the multiple fixtures helps with...

You might do better for your tastes by considering an alternative light format, such as the CurrentUSA Orbit Marine Pro. A strip light. These won't leave shadows in the first place (much like T5 light), so you can use the recommended number of fixtures. I'd consider a DUAL 48-60" kit to start with ($585). If you plan to have them rest on the tank, you might want a third strip for the back, depending on your layout. You might also want a third strip ($332) if you just want the option of running your tank brighter/your strips at a lower intensity. For the price, you could buy two DUAL kits ($1200) and have supreme coverage and your strips would never run at 100%...and you still would have some money in your pocket vs most of the other solutions.
