I am upgrading my tank from a 20 gallon to a red sea reefer 170, which is about 43 gallon including the sump. I have an ai prime that im going to swap over. I was wondering if this will be enough like for this tank. And does anyone have a recommended file or an idea of what intensity I should run on this tank. I watched a brs video where they claimed I should run some really high intensities(uv,v at 160% and blues at 120). Seems kind of high.. I here alot of mixed results on this. Wondering if I could have any file suggestions or inputs on this. Thanks in advance.

search brs TV on google for ab+ settings for ai prime they have great info for you.

I would runv2 primes on that tank and the brs settings are good they do a ton of research and I run my ai prime and my ai hydra 32s with there recommend settings works great for me.

I would run 2 of them on that size of tank. I have 2 on a 65gal with UV and blues about at the levels you mentioned and it would never support sps in my tank, highest par is 140 at about 18" deep with my whites on 30%. Unless your comfortable with running your whites higher.

One will be lacking in coverage and usable spread. Use a par meter to set your intensities. Max your blue and violet channels, and raise your whites reds and greens until you reach your par goal

Unfortunately I dont have a par meter at my disposal. I'm thinking I may get a 2nd prime. If I run 2 will that be essentially similar to running a hydra32? Or should I just upgrade to hydra or radion xr30?

Two primes would be better in your case because you can space them wider and have a more even light blanket. A hydra 32 basically behaves like a brighter prime since the pucks are RIGHT next to each other. With primes you can separate them and make the hot spot less intense
