Hi, I am going for a custom reef tank. Live in a prewar apartment so cant be too big. Was thinking of 50-60 gallons. Just wondering what you would recommend as a dimmension for tank. I have sort of ruled out cube as I think I can fit more corals in a long tank. Thanks Rich

I personally like tanks that have a good width... makes for better aquascapes IMO

Deep Blue makes a 36x18x20"H 57g rimless tank

wow so many choices. doesnt a long go better than a cube. I am not opposed to a cube just thought more space in a long

It all depends on you lol. Go max width, then go max depth, then if you are going lps or sps only go 18/20 inch, mix reef go 24 or more to allow change in light intensity.

alright thanks that makes sense. I have a mixed reef so will go with 24.

I'm upgrading my 29g to a 55g long next week and my only regret with going with the 55g long is the height. It's 21" tall and only 13" deep while being 48" long... I wish it was 18" tall and 14" or 15" deep and maybe an inch or two shorter. Its the same as my 29g just 3 inches taller and nearly twice as long :\ but still it adds a lot more room for rock, corals, and caves. plus my hippo will be much happier :D

i just ended up negotiating a one year old reefer 250 with a ruby elite 36 trigger sump for 850. I think I did good. Thanks

Good call. I also live in a small prewar and went with a reefer 170 for my space. The nano / 170 / 250 are good tanks for apartment dwellers.

I have only one acros mostly montis birdsnest stylos and pocis. Will venture into acros with a bigger tank.
