I will be Upgrading from a 25 fowlr to a 75 gallon tank in a few weeks. What is the best way to make the transition and how much sand should I put in? I have 2 clowns 1 banggai cardinal and 1 goby. I;am going to wait and get a shrimp and some snails when the new tank is up and running so I don;t have to move them. Will a shrimp be ok with a goby and what is the best way to cycle the tank. Thanks.

When I moved from a 56 to a 75, I fully cycled the 75 and when it was cycled I did the move then. I move some of the live rock and a couple cups of sand from the old to the new and then did an Ammonia cycle. Took longer than I wanted, but when I all my levels were 0 I moved the rest of the rock I was keep as well as all the live stock in the tank. Clean and tore the old take.. It was a long process. Started at 8:00 AM and was done at 6:00 PM. I did not lose anything. Now this will only work if you have space for 2 tanks at the same time, but it was the way I decided to do it.

I did not use any of the water other than about 15 gallons from a water chance when I was first setting up the 75. Worked well for me.

I;am going to cycle the tank before adding live stock because I don;t wont to take a chance with a ammonia spike. Thanks

Best of luck!
