So I currently have a 10 gallon nano with 3 fish and and cleaner and pistol shrimp, it was my first tank so I went as cheap as possible regarding gear, long story short it had algae and heavy metal problems cause of my hard water and high livestock count.

Im upgrading to a 25 gallon tank this Friday and I don't Want to keep my sand or rock cause both have algae, I'm going all out this time with a robust refugium in the sump and a media reactor along with a protein skimmer, I'm trying to make sure my filtration is on point, I'm also starting the tank with water from my lfs and I'm no longer using water from my house for ANYTHING. Anyway back to tank upgrade, I'm def not gonna keep sand cause that's a bad idea, I'm still on the fence about rock though, the only problem is, if I dont keep my rock, then I won't have and bio filtration till my tank cycles, and with 3 fish and two shrimps, that sounds like it's gonna go south pretty quick. I thought about getting wet live rock from my lfs but I don't think they keep it in a cycled tank, I'm pretty sure it's in a bin with water????, thus no beneficial bacteria, let me know what I should do, I'm open to all suggestions

I would highly suggest using ur old rock unless it’s infested with something. Also you can wash ur sand and add bacteria to the system to create bio diversity. Watch some of the latest videos on BRS. And are you rushing this set up for any reason. Nothing good in this hobby comes from a quick rushed setup. Especially if this is ur dream tank right now and going with good equipment.

I'd start totally fresh, keep the 10G operational until the 25 is ready to stock.

I labeled it emergency cause I wanted to get as many suggestions as possible

I'm going to need extra rock even if I do use the old one, I'm rushing it cause I'm putting the new tank in the same spot and I don't want to move it once I set it up, would turbostart 900 help in giving it a boost

Also would wet live rock have bacteria already

Where are you located? I have a lot of life rock left over from my last build. Get some turbo 900 from Algae barn to cycle or something similar.

Maybe try Brightwell Microbacter
