So I have a 16g biocube that is four months old. Going great haven't lost anything! Actually brought a dead acan back to life, which I am ***** proud of. But it's time to upgrade. With the holidays I maybe have gotten a few new corals that I can't place appropriately due to possible fighting, so anything I should do ahead of time of during the tank upgrade?

16g stocking list
2 Ocellaris clownfish
1 red hi fin banded goby
1 bonded Randall's/ red tiger (idk) pistol shrimp
1 emerald crab
1 pom pom crab
1 tuxedo urchin
Brittle stars lol
1 large turbo snail
1 black margarita snail

I use instant ocean with weekly water changes except this week as hoping to move everything this week and will be essentially doubling water volume. I have Cheto in the aio. Umm IDK what else I can say lol just want to make sure I don't nuke the tank and do everything correctly.

First a word of caution, 4 months isn't a long time with a new tank set up. But you've done well not to lose anything. So good for you.

Do you have any idea how big you want to go?

I downsized from 4 tanks (600g of saltwater) to just a 40g zoa tank. It only took 2 years and the tank is overflowing with corals. So I'm upgrading again. I've made a 90g tank (36"x30"x20") and I'm in the process of getting it set up now. You might find my build thread interesting. Congrats on the upgrade!!
Just plan every move ahead. Write a checklist of all the process so you don’t miss anything due to hurries (it happens).
I guess you will have more sand and rock in the new tank. Is dry rock? Or live rock already cycled?

This 32g is as big as "this" tank will go. I have a 150g bowfront build in the process but waiting for my sump and skimmer to be picked out lol but that's for another day. But this is a simple clown tank that I may frag from but I have an idea of how I want it to look so I have a goal in mind.
Also I am aware 4 month is a very short lifespan for a tank but that's exactly why I want to move sooner then later because I don't want everything so established that when I do change I end up shocking everything again. If that makes sense. Or at least that's my thought process.

It would most likely be dry rock. I am horrified of getting live rock. Had a buddy get one of those bobbit worm things and it was horrifying to watch it destroy his tank before he knew what it was!

You will not “shock” everything Lol. If you bring over the live rock from your 16 gallon and use the same sand, everything will be fine. The corals will be more shocked by the newer lighting than anything. I would use the same live rock to speed up the cycle. My tank cycled in a matter of days with live rock and sand. Granted, my live rock came from my precious tank that had been up and running for 7 years.

You could always just upgrade the lighting on your 16 to make it “adequate”
Ummm the lighting is fine I'm simply upgrading so I have more room lol may keep the 16g up to grow out corals after I frag but the lighting isn't even close to an issue

You said you were upgrading because your new corals weren’t getting adequate lighting. You’ll outgrow that 32 quickly LOL. I went from a 24 to a 45 a year and a half ago. Already outgrowing the tank ;)

What are you worried about fighting ?
Lol no worries I was really confused for a second though. and I have a couple euphilia, palys zoas and things like that that I just want to make sure that nothing is fighting not that they will but that's just a thought I want to make sure everything's happily coexisting. I have 150 gallon bow front that I'm slowly piecing together and waiting to get set up till I have everything I want not settling for anything less and I don't want to upgrade later cuz I feel that's just going to cost me more money so for like the sump I want something with the refugium I'm not going to start the tank and then 6 months down the line by a new sump that has a refugium in it I'm going to wait till I have everything I want and do it right the first time how I want it even if it takes me longer to get it up and running. sorry if it looks or read funny I'm doing voice to text while doing things at work

Hahaha, no worries. Euphyllia will not fight each other. Zoas will be fine in the sand bed or down low. I actually have Mohawks growing in between a colony of frogspawn and hammer. Every once in awhile the frogspawn gets sweepers but none of them harm each other.
