It sounds like UPS has been having delays (could be due to staffing shortages). My livestock order was picked up last night, supposed to come today but now rescheduled for tomorrow, I don't think any of the fishes or corals will make it.

Vendor says they're not responsible for delays or mechanical delays, which is absurd imo. They said they'll work with the UPS to see if they will issue coverage, but that's not guaranteed. What are my chances of not losing out on money in this case?

I’m in the same boat with FedEx. But my delay was caused by a winter storm that was forecast, so I’m a bit annoyed that my corals were even shipped in the first place.

My opinion is that the couriers will probably deny responsibility. I am hoping that my vendor will see me right but I’m half expecting to lose my money (and my corals).

I guess in your case is different, and agree that it should not have been shipped out due to weather. But in my case, it seems to be UPS' fault, i just don't know how they could deny responsibilities that they messed up.

Many vendors have a similar policy of not covering shipping delays, however some are firm in the policy and others try to help as much as possible. Some, though limited, vendors do cover shipping delays, such as @PacificEastAquaculture.

It seems both FedEx and UPS have issues depending on your area, but I try to check weather across the country based on a shippers hub to try to ensure best shipping or get it held for pick up at a hub

I had a cuc order delayed, everything dead. The box missed the truck by 2 hours so I went to the warehouse and they wouldn’t let me have it, just didn’t want to find it I guess.

Can’t stress enough the importance of negotiating insurance on the package, either get it included or pay the extra.

Yeah my order is covered too, I feel bad for the vendors they have to eat these orders constantly. Probably why shipping charge and online coral and fish prices are skyrocketing.

I run a business that ships non-perishables and the costs have gone up over 30% This year. It’s not just due to covering loss, I’m sorry to say.

I would love to live near Tidal Gardens. Then again I’m 40 minutes from WWC, TSA, and Living Reef.
I guess I have to be satisfied.
Would still be nice though….

I had an order delayed last week by only one day. Luckily due to packing all corals were just fine and are looking great a week later. Good luck.

I mean, it’s kind of hard to blame the shop or the carriers at this point…it is February and we all know the risks of winter weather and every delivery service has posted longer than usual delivery times….personally I wouldn’t risk ordering perishable items until the weather begins to become more stable. If you absolutely have to order live goods, pay for insurance, and if sellers won’t let you insure your package then imo they aren’t good sellers!

I'm about 15 minutes away!

Can you share who you ordered from.

Harry's Marine Life. I'm hoping they'll get coverage from UPS. This was my first time ordering from them, hopefully not the last, depends on how they treat this case. I've ordered livestock online numerous times, anywhere from eBay to Liveaquaria, and this is the first time experiencing this type of delay. If we have enough people perhaps we can start a class action lawsuit against UPS ;)

I just had an order from Reeftopia and it didn’t arrive on time and everything was dead. They replaced the order.
hopefully they do the right thing for you. Keep us informed.

Had a similar experience with Reefcleaners. Took 8 days to get a Priority Mail package from basically Ft Lauderdale to Central Virginia. Everything was dead.

The days of counting on decent deliveries are over, the reason I’m shutting down an online “reef related product” business. Costs more for crappier service. Very disappointing.

I've gotten to the point where I will only buy from online vendors that offer alive delivery guarantee regardless of reason. I do have a order from Jersey Corals that shipped out UPS today that is not alive guarantee because it was a prize that I won. Now I'm a little nervous about getting it on time.

I'm about 15 minutes away!
I'm 3 hours and 30 minutes away and I would still be willing to drive to pick up an order.
