Uranium an issue in my tank?

Getting my ICP results back, my Uranium levels read 0.44ppm, when the norm is around 0.05 in NSW. Is this any cause for concern? I find it funny that of all possible impurities, I am accumulating Uranium the most. My fish will not mutuate, right? ;Smuggrin

FWIW, 0.05 ppm is also not the uranium level in NSW. It is more like 0.0033 ppm. The value they report is perhaps what they detected with their machine, but that does mean it is accurate. It might just be the detection limit.

That's correct. The store is about half an hour away from me, and they offer tests for 15 bucks a pop when you buy locally, so that is why I use them. I am weary of their results though, they always report my magnesium and calcium rather low compared to my test kit numbers.

Nope didn't figure out their problems. I just got my test results back from my first ICP test and I'm reading 0.057 Uranium. Where dose that come from? Could it possibly be leaching from the dry rock? Also my Calcium levels are sky high @ 637.78ppm and I have a hard time believing that. I am high but I'm pretty sure not that high. Wouldn't I be seeing some issues with my corals if it were that high? Also #RandyHolmes you have said to me Iron is very hard to detect and I am reading 0.035 ppm and I only dose 1ml of Iron once a week into a 13.5 gallon aquarium. Maybe that's right? Idk. And also my Magnesium is @ 1539.99ppm... Whaaaat??? I know it's a lab test vs an at home test kit but my RedSea Magnesium puts me at 1360ppm and Calcium @500ppm. I've actually never dosed calcium and my tank has been up and running for 7 weeks. Kind of odd to me. But really I'm not too sure about these ICP tests.

Iron is likely from the dosing. You probably have more than needed, but I'm not sure it is hurting anything.

Salinity is good. Although my ICP results put me @ 40.57 PPT. I've calibrated my refractometer and tested right after. I come up at 33 PPT. When I take my water to my LFS they have a Hanna digital checker and my water comes in @ 1.024sg there. Not saying it's not possible but I would find it hard to believe that my salinity is high as I don't mix I buy pre-mixed saltwater. I'm going to test the water out of the container today and see what I'm putting in my tank but it is a reputable brand; Nutrisea. Should I use a different Mag test than RedSea? Do you suggest the Aqua Forest? As for the Iron I'm going to dose every 2 weeks, instead of every week.

If you don't believe the ICP salinity (I would), then I'm not sure why you would believe the ICP calcium level.

I thought I had read you said somewhere that you didn't. The ICP-Analysis.com one. Is there one you recommend? I like having the ability to check all those parameters every month or so. It's nice to know what's in my tank past what I can test for.

Any higher and the FBI will be knocking on your door. That's really odd. Did you get your RODI water tested too? I like the ATI ICP kit cause they include a seperate vile for your RODI water plus pre-paid postage.
