Hello so it looks like my urchin has detached a stall of my xenia and has started carrying it all around the tank. While I don’t mind this I just don’t want him to lose it in one of my other corals that I appreciate more then the xenia.

How long will he keep hold of the xenia before he drops it?

Should I just remove it?

Pics below of said urchin carrying it around.

He will drop it somewhere eventually just dont forget about it…if you try and pull it off it’ll prob rip a couple sucker arms with it, not the end of the world,
If I had to bet he’ll drop it by eod

He’s had it for about 5-7 days already lol

Wow he really likes it lol…. Maybe time to take action

We need more emoticons. I needed one that combined the Haha, Hugs and Wow all in one for this. You might find it hard to tell the difference between the urchin and xenia soon. :-) Maybe he'll find something else he feels more suitable to adorn himself with. :-) Did it look weird seeing the xenia going for a walkabout around your tank? ;-)

Well all my xenia is actually walking around the tank (back glass really). It started in lower right corner of tank and is now patches all over the whole right side of back wall.

Urchins like hats, and will carry it around until it finds another. you can buy urchin hats for it to use if you like

My rock boring urchin never picks up things. I wonder if it's just certain types that will walk off with things.

Time to start calling cyphastrea encrusted hats I’m thinking!

Mine would just keep carrying the same anacropora frag and then dropping it somewhere I can barely reach. Sometimes I feel that it does it on purpose, sigh..

Today my urchin went hat shopping and look at what it found!
