Guys I need help!! My long spine is munching on 2 colonies of zoanthids I got Wednesday! He literally devoured one already and I caught him doing it to the other one just now! I need him out of my tank but I won’t be able to go to a fish store till next Sunday. I have a small bio cube I could set up but I don’t have any rock or substrate for it. Would putting him in there for now hurt him?

Urchins mainly eat corraline algae. It may be starving in your tank and was eating the algae off the new plugs you just got. The zoas just got between him and his dinner.

That makes sense. I don’t have a lot of coraline in my tank, but it’s growing. Purple up is a decent product btw. But I digress. I’ve since just put the urchin in the sump for now. I was half way looking for a reason to set up my bio cube in the house, but I really didn’t want to wait for the water to mix and risk losing the few polyps I have left. Thank you for your insight though!
