Hi, just removed my yellow boxfish, minutes after death, about 5 mins later, the other fish startet acting wierd, swimming wierd, gasping, ect..

i assume boxfish poison.. i move them to other aquarium awhen i can catch them...

can i "cure" the poison, is it gonna pass now in the other tank, or are they all doomed allready ?

Blue tang - Dead

for some reason, my copperband and filefish are still alive.. trying to catch them

so all that i managed the catch and move to other tank that are alive, are my clowns, and my Manadrin, all 3 seem ok atm..

Still in main tank, and for some reason still alive or at least not confirmed dead, are Copperband (im would expect that to go 1st) filefish, yellow watchman goby, and 2 six lines...

would it safe to assume IF they are still alive in a couple of hours, it would be safe to move the 3 survivors back?

And can i do anything besides waterchange, to neutrulize the posion?

So sorry to hear! I've never had boxfish poison other fish except right after I collected them. I don't know of a way to neutralize the toxin(s). Carbon (even if it is fresh) can be hit or miss at removing compounds from water, depends on the size/type of the molecule and the type of activated carbon. I would rely on water changes instead.

Completely out of my area of expertise, but I wouldn't move anything back until someone with the requisite knowledge advises you of your best course of action.

The fish is reported to expel toxin when stressed or death capable of killing other fish.
Exchange water.
Agreed with waterchanges; slight correction to this though, these fish have to be alive (and stressed) to produce the toxin - they can't produce the toxins once dead.

No expert, sourced that directly from Live Aquaria, just says stressed though so thanks for correcting that.

yeah, i found that out After i got the fish, allmost a year ago...

But ill say, it was the most calm and relaxed of all my fish...
Allways swimming calm and even curoius when i had med hand in the tank, it was following my hand and even nip at my finger.. So not easily stressed..

But ill assume dying is a stress trigger..

Total body count, except boxfish,

1 Foxface
1 Purple tang
1 Blue Tang
1 Royal Gramma
1 Cleaner Wrasse
2 Six Line Wrasses

:(

All that made it was my Copperband, Filefish, Yellow Watchman goby & 2 Clowns

I Liked that yellow Box, but had i known the risk, i wouldnt have bought it.
