Urgh seriously.

Hello,

For those who are curious this is how to waste really expensive frozen fish food and umm worse ruin a really nice cold glass of milk :(. This is your mind on tired, are we all going to make changes lol.

Hello,

Wow I have seen all those ads of the egg then it being scrambled and that’s what happens when ones uses illegal things :|. So this is my mind on tired, lol any questions :). But what’s worse is two days in a row, I woke up late to work first time ever in my life. (Serves my relief guy since he is late daily).

It was just total snow ball effect, work shirt, and thin thermal shirt under (because they keep the er the same temp as the mortuary). I had my thermal pants on, socks and danskos, and coat. (Anyone know what’s missing here as I’m in my car driving to work?) has any one seen the movie Alvin and the chipmunks and he sings trouble yeah I’m in troubke just happens to be playing. Then half way to work and late I realize I didn’t have pants, just thermal pants on. ‍♀️ My brain has officially been scrambled lol. Noticed in time to go back home and get work pants on as well and arrived about 15 min late which they all clamped.

In terms of my tank, the alk increase has prove to
Be amazing. I had to dose back cal as I approached 520 I think and was woah that’s little high no cal today. Will see how long it takes to absorb it. I am curious maybe @saltyfilmfolks, by me adding my third orbit pro to reduce shading all at 60 degrees. How much par if any would it increase, but I am only running the uv and blues. While the whites on the two outer ones run at about 41%. It gave it a nice blue tint, but I really don’t wanna scramble corals.
Yes I have a par meter but it’s on loan, and if they would answer the little decide that vibrates or rings that’s in the pocket lol I would be able to get it back :).

I’m sure I can do this the most accurate way by using math, but right now my brain is like nooo adding and subtracting is too much. So far all corals have responded very positive to the alk increase which is 2.5 full teaspoons measured out daily. Been thinking of doing one in the morning and one st night to keep it more stable. (On food breaks). Yes looking st a used dosing pump now. Problem is nobody that works for any of th lfs (including the ones at the creeper one) have any value info on dosing pumps @Brew12 and or @Katrina71 if you run those devices.

Hello,

@Rakie oh wow that would be soooooooo neat and lovely.
But sadly nope not at the moment. However, with that said my new 425 should be shipping anytime soon :). With that also said until my work schedule gives me time to brush my hair I may have to save the 425 for the summer or which ever gives first. Hopefully I won’t have lost my mind or sanity. As much as I want only one tank, there is just no way I could honestly rip my 240 apart.

It’s doing amazing (even more so that I figured what was lacking). Risking losing corals and especially fish kinda (nope it does) terrify me. The last time I did a move the lfs killed 90% of everything I had fallen in love with. Now that I have created another beautiful tank (well to me) tearing it down would be hard.

It has also crossed my mind which makes the above paragraph kinda moot point, of getting a larger house. I would build it to my liking (stupid designers made all the bath rooms upstairs (slap). But it would be able to House my 425 has the main display. I am not sure if I would make my 240 form a 90 degree bend or in a separate room. I would also plan to have the sumps placed in the garage and plumbed in professionally. Still chewing on the idea of separate sumps so if one fails they all don’t fail. Still in the works but still staying with the mitas ghl lighting which I bought five (that hurt just a little bit). Still lost on sump ideas and skimmer ideas. Will use current usa again for dc returns (4 this time) and 8 for the main display. Still want to create a design with staxx rocks similar to @120reefkeeper (sorry you deserve all credit). With that, though I face some challenges that hopefully my amazing knowledge in math will solve and fluid dynamics.

In terms of building my rock work mixed with dry and live rock, I want the wave makers hidden and all cords non visible. As well as return system, maybe a ghost return but I need to figure designs that will allow flow, as the tank grows even. Plus being able to remove clean replace, etc. there seems to be quite a bit of planning in this one.

I really wanna make sure I am gonna stay in my current home. Love the house just hate that the homes are not more than 15 feet away from each other. Plus moving that size of tank would be much easier lol if the fork lift just places it on the floor. Then we can build around it, (hence I can probably never move again, unless we hire a wrecking ball to knock my wall out.

It also doesn’t help that I have returned to making noise with my ludwig full drum kit. Re learn the 5-4 timing was much easier when I was younger but is coming back to me.

Sounds fun! I also really like the Staxx rocks myself as well. As for a sump in the garage, you will need a pump with VERY high head pressure unless the tank is against the garage wall. I'm not sure the loops could handle it.

But I gotta say, you joke... But I've seen way more than a few builds including the tear down and rebuild of the house wall. You just might be the first female I've ever seen that could be excited about that :D

this thread is genius.

@Musovski ahh thanks for the extremely kind words, too bad my brain is In second grade mode or aka mush. Mainly do to lack of sleep. A prime example was I ventured to help my brother fix an electrical problem in his old crappy ford.
Looking at electrical car schematics is such a pain, could
They be any more vague? Good lord, thank goodness if we have to refer to something it’s accurate all the time. But someday I will reach maybe pre genius levels. Probably when I’m 119 years old and can’t even walk across the floor to do any good. Yet I could steal Stephen Hawkins idea it worked very well.

@Rakie lol ohhhhh no not me. Tearing down a wall in a house that im living in would place me literally permanently on the looney toons squad. Next thing you know I’ll be dating Wiley Coyote super genius lol. The noise and dust and just the mess would again drive me nuts. Im so ocd when it comes to my house being clean.

In terms of the dc loop pumps, from what they have worked on for me is if I double the lines to a one inch pipe which the tank would be the other side of the wall should work. But if my physics and fluid dynamics serve me correctly even then (your correct it may not have the pressure needed, simply because the back flow would be an issue. Even if was able to link one pump per return line it could suffer. But even when I looked at the aka vectora pumps from the gold standard Ecotech they performed worse than the currents. Since it’s in the garage I may just do two large ac main pumps and then use a valves to control my pressure. Noise is something that I dread on my tanks. Hence I went with current usa they may not be the name brand but sure are dead silent and more power than I can manage.

What I need to do is get access to a cad program and design the tank form it, and go from there. Gosh it’s been wow I was 17 18 when I was in advanced physics and fluid dynamics in my undergrad program. Not sure I still have access to it. But I’m certain I’ll lose some water volume space as I build my staxx rocks to hide things.

There's a big difference between whats reported and whats accurate, additionally the testing setup to give perfect conditions is also in question. And honestly, the EcoTech returns are okay, but I think there's nicer options out there. With big tanks, and multiple returns, and long runs, people tend to opt for serious return pumps. External, and power hungry little jerks.

I helped install a 4 tank SPS system, each tank was 8x30x8 (frag tanks) and each had 4 returns on it. We powered it with a single Reeflo hammerhead gold

I'm not saying YOU will need anything like this specifically -- But you might need it's baby brother if your runs are long. Pumps like this one, have 25' of head pressure, use 380+ watts of electricity, and weight like 15lbs.

If you want your tank in a very specific place, and have multiple return lines, and long runs, EcoTech won't be able to help you!

Also, don't turn into mush. Your threads are entertaining, and mushy brains are bad.

Hello,

@Rakie lol see I’m the one who would run two of those just to make sure I have enough flow and power. As of this moment I would never by Ecotech ever. I think it’s all name and your paying for the name not quality. That’s why I have loved currrnt USA, I had a power supply to one of my lights go bad. It was almost two years past warranty, and they just said here is a new one sorry it broke. Would you like the old one back, naw have fun with it.

Every time I have tried to call them, (when I have volunteered at the local aquarium or even labs or whatever, they care more about money than service). Do you have a link to those pumps so I can research them :).

It’s very heart warming and more than words can dictate, the feeling I get that people enjoy reading my thread. Of course it won’t ever change :), but it inspires me to write more and show more. Even as crazy silly busy as I am I usually try and make sure I respond to all those who read.
With that said I am guilty at following behind on others threads but I try, @Fin @Katrina71, @NY_Caveman @mike werner, @120reefkeeper, have @Erica-Renee did you start a new thread lol I saw pics but haven’t seen it recently. Plus sooo many others and @cracker and @Crabby48. Promise I haven’t forgotten just run out of time lol. But I do go in and check up and try and follow up, @Brew12 always love yours as well as others.

Still can’t believe I put fish food in my milk, went to work with just thermal pants on and no work pants over. Luckily I went from the house to the Jeep to half way to work and went wow it’s really cold or oh wow I’m missing pants. Plus I had socks and shoes on as well. These are the normal thin thermals that one can wear under pants. Kinda like leggings but warmer and some how thinner. But yeah and of all the songs to come on was Alvin an the chipmunks trouble. When that happens you know you should have stayed in bed. Makes me want to listen to he sing by 10,000 maniacs like the weather over and over.

Here is the BRS link to the Hammerhead Gold <--- LINK

Here is the BRS link to all external pumps <--- LINK

But if you need a strong pump, what you'll want is an external pump. That's where the power is. some of these pumps drive 50' head pressure, and can make 8" standing waves in 20' long tanks (Abyzz). They have a price tag equal to a first car too.

For cheaper pumps you'd be looking at: Reeflo, Dart, PanWorld, Iwaki.

For the ones that start in the $2,000 range you're looking at: Abyzz, Red Dragon.

Hello,

@Rakie looks like they are nice pumps minus (sorry except Ecotects). I was think of I use two of the abyzz a400 plus they are dc. I am hoping I can run them with out an apex system, since I am un sure of them etc. if I use one per return I will have plenty of return flow.

Can't say I've ever put fish food in my food. I came awful close to dumping my coffee in my aquarium before instead of the thawed PE Mysis. My fish are active enough, I wouldn't want to see them jacked up on caffeine!

I have Hammer head Gold on my tank. They just work. No Cleaning NO Adjusting ,Once in a while every 3-6 years you have to change the pump seal which cost 26.00 and takes about 15 minutes . The extra money you spend is Re-cooped in Time saved and pump replacement cost over the life span of the pump and Piece of mind its going to run FOREVER

Just roll in bread crumbs and saute with a little olive oil and garlic;) I cant wait to see the tank build..or the house build....BTW how are the little ones? and the brother?.....You could employ him to Collect;) that par meter. If not I know a guy;Dead....j/k

I'm not sure this would be good for something under the tank though. My understanding is that they are relatively noisy. Probably can't do better for a basement build or fish room.

You won't need two abyzz unless you've got a 50' run!

A guy in my club is running 6 sea swirls on his 450g with a single abyzz a400, he replaced two red dragons with it I believe.

Not noisy at all.. They have very large motors that turn lower rpm then a DC Pump. There is a steady hummm But the bubble noise of my skimmer is WAY Louder then the Reefflo pump.. With that said its def louder then the DC Pumps i have but Quieter then my mag drive pumps...

Now.. If you have a sump just below your tank a reeflo hammer head is NOT the right pump for you Its much to powerful unless you are using it for a multi output Closed loop type installation.. 5600gph is a lot of moving water ..
