Urgh seriously.

Hello,

So after working forever the last shift I had my goby showed up for dinner. I took a food break and last night he didn’t show up for dinner. Tried to find him in he tank hiding and wasn’t able to. I did look on the floor but didn’t see anything, yet I can’t really see super well behind the tank.

Before I had to do my extra 12 hour shift that I just got off from I spent time with the kiddos. We went and picked out pumpkins :)

Looks like they had a great time!

Hello,

So after being tired once again, I let me tank slip. Three of my sps stated to rtn, and after checking my levels my salinity was done to 1.021, from 1.023 and normally 1.025. So slowly adding salt back into it and hoping it won’t harm the sps corals any more. It’s always when I get called in on my days off.

All other parameters are fine may go back to an 8 hour light period to get them to heal. Definitely won’t do the heights during this time.

Curious, I know you do not have an ATO, so it would seem your salinity would trend higher. How is it that is went lower?

Hello,

Honestly I have no idea, my refractometer and hydrometer both read the same. It was 1.023 on Sunday and I added salt then it was lower today. I have never had it drop on me like that, it’s gone up but never lower. I feel kinda really dumb, I just didn’t check it and now I have to try and save the few sps corals it’s affecting. I think I’m gonna have to tell work that I just can’t keep doing the extra shifts on my days off even though they are 12. I’m too exhausted to do anything and I’m not about to lose my whole tank, because they can’t hire more help.

As Nancy Reagan said, just say no! Knew that phrase would be useful some day.

Hello,

No my temp shows 79 on the digital meter and also when I log into the current Bluetooth the probe shows 78 as well. Flow was fine all other parameters are fine, just curious if I have something in my tank killing my sps. I have never had those sps eating works but not sure what to look for either.

Some of the nurses are not very nice they work just what they need to do. Yes I need the practice on some things, starting an iv is not one of them. Yes I’m sure some of the nurses make more than I do because they have been there since before I was born. But they make a killing because my overtime isn’t paid it’s comp time. Well it’s worthless to me, because I never get much time off. Even when I was injured, they wouldn’t allow me to use it, they wanted me to use my sick leave only. But I didn’t have enough (haven’t accrued enough (nor have I used any) to begin with. So I took unpaid time, but I have over 3000 hours of comp time already which that’s also has time and a half but I’d rather them pay it out.

@Katrina71 yes thank you I would need a vacation just to keep my sanity. Not sure if I will gain ten pounds, but definitely will finally not lose anymore.

Sorry you are having troubles. I understand about not having enough time to spend on things that you enjoy doing. I don't want to be a killjoy, but you have an even bigger tank on the way. A friendly voice of reason here - if you don't have enough time to maintain one, it will be increasingly more difficult to take care of two. Please consider getting the new one up and established and then moving everything over to the 425. It will make life a little easier on you.

For your refractometer, get some calibration standard solution (I use Britewell Refractometer Standard) and calibrate the instrument. I was bad about not doing that and recently got some more solution and found that mine was reading high - like 1.026, when it was actually 1.023. And please set up an ATO. All you will have to worry about then is keeping water in your reservoir. The salinity will stay the same.

Get some sleep!

If the salinity is slowly dropping you could have a Leak .You may not be evaporating as much as you think and some water is slipping out someplace.. But it seems unlikely in a large tank , My Suggestion is if this is a common occurrence to check very good For plumbing leaks

Hello,

So there is some interesting news about my goby and it made my heart skip a beat and I’m still in awe. Apparently he has some death wishes. He decided to hardwood floor surf and landed by my feet. Then he was fine for a week and then I couldn’t find him and thought he had died. Well to my surprise he choose to move and live in my sump tank.

Before I went into work I was topping my tank off and he was sitting in the return pump section, where he probably jumped over the baffles which are not high at all. Then ended up in the return section and I saw him as I was topping water off. I’m curious as to how he got into the sump, though. Unless he jumped into the overflow and then went down the drain section. It was a nice uplifting surprise but I never thought to look in there.

Bank shot off the back wall maybe? :-)

With my previous tank I ended up having to put covers on the overflows to keep one of my clowns from ending up in my sump. Silly little thrill seeker must have taken the water slide down at least 10 to 15 times.

We had a Lawnmower blenny that would do that , Finally got tired of Retrieving him and he lived down there for quite a while before he vanished. Quite large size so i assumed it was just its time to go..
I also posted some images of the new Tank upgrade.

Hello,

i think its a 220 and i have Viparspectra lights.. Switched to them from M/H A year ago.. NO reason to pay more they just work ..
