Urine Containers work great for shipping!

Been using them for a very long time and i am sure one of the first. i might even be willing to venture as far as saying we were the first to do it. been using them for nearly 8 years now

When i first started everyone freaked out because it was never seen before but once i gave my reasons for it it was very well received. shortly after starting it we had a few problem with corals rubbing on the hard container so we started wrapping them in plastic and ever since then they have worked out perfect.

It was not long before we heard of several other vendors doing it now as well. It insulated better then a bag. They have far less leakage problems. they protect better . they cost alot more but i love them.

i got them in the mail b4 the guy rubber band the frag plug to some foam that fit tight in the cup so the frag could not move worked well

how about gluing the frag plug to styrofoam and the gluing the styrofoam tothe lid of the urine container. oh yeah i get them for free, my wife is a nurse.

I don't ship, but when I buy or get coral from others that i pick up, I use the tupper ware with the twist loc lids, they hold a little more water, and the come in larger sizes for those larger colonies that are still attached to pieces of live rock. not perfect, just my 2cents

Urine cups

I would not recommend shipping sps with specimen cups . I recently recieved an order from a vendor here on RtoR shipped in specimen cups. Two of five frags were missing some flesh on the tips from banging into sides of the cups in transit. Both died within 2 days so the lived long enough to not be guaranteed. Usually frags rtn from the bottom up.

that is why I dont ship SPS in the cups

what i do when shipping in urine cups sometimes with things like sps is i would put a small part of a fish bag around the cups inner wall with some cuts in it for water movement and this cushons the frag.

My son was born about 8 months ago...needless to say i have a ton of baby food jars. I have been using them with no problems. They dont leak and they are stronger than plastic pee cups.

I love those containers and i just use plastic bags as a filler to secure the frag...never fails..and i fill the container with water only 95% just in case

how bout this the foam is cut to fit tight so it doesn't move around and the frags will be secured with a spot of glue in the foam.. tape the lid tight and put it in another bag outside the cup

I figured you can utilize the container and reduce shipping wieght.. pass savings on to the buyer :)

Glad this thread turned in this direction:

This is the only way we have ever sent frags.

We have our client send back all of our shipping materials dried out in the original styro snail mail... they receive a store credit credit toward their next order.

We clean then re-use/recycle the materials.

This way neither party is contributing a big pile of bags to a land-fill somewhere.

Check out some of the clients's photos on our FB page
