Wondering if anyone thinks this is...

On day 5 copper power at 2.2 for obvious ich infestation.

He was eating like a horse, the spots were all gone and looked like a champ.

Woke up this morning and he was reclusive, swimming upside down in his pvc house. Suppressed appetite.

I dosed Metro and Furan-2 because he had some small red spots.

Just died. So that was real fast decline... could the abx have actually accelerated it? Was that a mistake?

Sorry to hear! The fish sure looked like it was headed in the right direction, and the quick downhill slide is difficult to account for. How was the fish’s respiration rate during all this? Any other fish in with it? I don’t see any overt Uronema lesions, but without a microscope, I can’t really say for certain.

Breathing went heavy at the end, gills looked a little inflamed.

No other fish in there, though there was a fairy wrasse in prior for 14 days; no overlap. The wrasse is in the DT now and doing well.

I have emptied the tank and going to do a full reset to prevent any further contamination, but I would like to know what happened obviously so it doesn’t repeat!

Uronema is usually not controlled by copper, so it could be the case here. The rapid breathing / gill issue could also be bacterial gill disease or maybe even Amyloodinium/velvet that the copper didn’t control.

So... I had this happen again, this time the ich wasn’t nearly as bad and the death happened faster. Another red internal blotchy patch and dead fish. The QT had been wiped out, dried, etc. so totally clean, new water, yada yada.

Before I attempt a third time and fail... what do we think this is and how do I prevent it?!

I have a little NFG, but not enough to do a full in-tank course for a week. A bath first? Different antibiotics?
