Hi- starting a brand new tank. About two months into the cycle. First i added a pair of clowns which i quarantined in copper and look great in the display. Then i added an Achilles tang which is also doing very well. I purchased 6 blue/green chromis about 4 weeks ago. I placed them into quarantine. Two died within 24h. Two others displayed evidence of severe tail rot. I raised my copper to 2ppm and offered several different abx (nitrifurazone being the most effective) as well as general cure in the food. After theee weeks they looked great! I performed a freshwater dip and added them to my DT. Disaster!
Two of the 4 died within a day and a third died the next day. Red blotches on their sides clearly identify Uronema.
So now I’m very upset. My brand new display tank is permanently infested and my clowns, Achilles, and last remaining chromis are exposed. So far all four show no evidence of illness. What is best practice at this time?
Do i prophylactically treat the four healthy fish?
Do i simply observe?
Do i need to break down the entire tank and start from scratch?
Will all future additions be at risk?

Please help. Thanks you!!!!

Probably the best approach would be to remove all your fish to QT and treat with metronidazole.
Then break down, sterilize and restart the tank.
If that's too much, you could try permanently removing the 1 remaining chromis and see how the other fish do.
Wouldn't be a good idea to ever add more chromis to that tank though.

These are the only two real options. I agree. Fish other than chromis will probably be fine and not affected. I have seen uronema on wrasse and dwarf angels as well...

So if i remove the remaining chromis and observe the others, how long until I know I’m in the clear? Would i put any meds in the DT while I observe?
Thanks both for the reply!

Thank you for your response!
I’m having a hard time catching the chromis. Could i treat the DT with general cure? Is this a bad idea?
