I have noticed that schooling fish tend to get it easier.
For example, chromis, fusilier, anthias.

Therefore, should I separate these fish from others when quarantining?
Since, no medication has been effective for me thus far, any ideas on preventative treatment?

I'm thinking of tank transfer with metronidazole in receiving tank and acriflavine dips between transfers.

Thanks

I think having a tank pre-dosed with metro is the best answer.

I personally use a pharmaceutical grade metronidazole, as seachem admittedly only has a purity around 70%.

I also recommend copper since velvet is so rampant these days.

^ This, having copper/metroplex or CP to treat prophylactically.

I also think it’s not a bad idea to give all incoming fish a ruby reef rally bath. It’s pretty mild, and has multiple benefits. I wouldn’t however plan on doing multiple baths just because of the formalin content. It’s only a small amount, with acriflavine being the main active ingredient, but since formalin is a known carcinogen I try not to use any amount excessively.

If you have just straight acriflavine it’s not as concerning but probably still overkill if you are doing multiple dips without symptoms.

I liked the idea of putting my batch of fish straight into Metro treated water in my quarantine and that's what I did. I dosed the tank with 2 scoops of Metroplex per 10g, every 2-3 days for 14 days. That went well, and only lost one chromis at the beginning, the rest seem ok. I had been raising my copper level slowly over the past week as well, and it is at 1.75ppm now. Today I lost another chromis and noticed another has the trademark uronema red mark on its body, but is doing ok. Is it possible they still have uronema or could it just have the wound? I'm going to do the copper for 30 days, I could do metro again now or wait until the end, but I thought for sure I would have killed it. Thoughts, suggestions?
