use of lens filters

so I was sitting by my tank yesterday and I had my new pair of costa del mar sunglasses sitting on my desk and I had a thought (probably not the first time someone has had this thought)...if the polarized lenses help me see fish through the glare of the sun on the flats or out on the open ocean, why couldnt they have the same effect on my tank? :nerd:

sure enough, a simple test with my galaxy s5 (which takes mediocre photos of my tank even at full daylight) held behind one of the lenses in my costas proved that it made a world of difference....

so my question is, does anyone here use a polarized lens filter when taking photos of their tank? Ive also heard yellow/amber lenses have a pretty cool effect on tank pics

yellow filters/gels will pull a lot of the blue out, allowing you to get the colors you see under blue without the entire photo going windex blue..

Remember that there was also some lights with specific filters to bring out phosphorescence from corals...
