What's going on everyone. So I got a used 100g long. I just got the upper trim off. The guy that built this tank used to much silicone and looks crappie. Plus it had a pin hole leak. Can I use some type of acid to clean all of the silicone off. Also I don't know what type of glass the guy used to build the tank. Is there a way to tell if I can drill it.
Also could I use two braces and leave the top brace off or would you just leave it on?

I would try cleaning the silicon with a new sharp blade! I won't risk using any sort of chemical! Sorry can help with the type of glass but if it's tamper proof stay clear of drilling you will shatter it! The brace at the top are for support of the tank! Remember when there is water in it, the pressure is outwards, the brace stops the front and rear of tank to arch and give in!!

If you use polarized lens, say sunglasses and most certainly 3D glasses that movie theaters have and look at the glass on the tank it shouldn't have any rainbow stripes through the panes. If they do it's tempered and can't be drilled.

So what i think im going to do is clean the tank up and take the one side piece and see if it can be drilled. If it can not then i will replace just that side piece where ill be doing a side over flow box.
