hi all reef2reef,

I am interested in upgrading to a larger tank, one question in particular:

I have a used 6 foot 120 gallon tank which a friend gave to me, and was thinking about removing the old sealant from the glass, and getting each panel cut to a slightly smaller size. This is thick glass, maybe 1". Would I be safe cutting the glass and re using to build a smaller tank? No cracks, no chips; no real scratches. Was stored outside under a roofed porch for 2 years.

Any tips or tricks to safely pulling this off?
Or would I be ok to simply remove the old silicone, and reseal the tank without cutting it?

Help is greatly appreciated.

First you’ll need to know if all sides are tempered, if they are I’m pretty sure it could not be cut.

It's very heavy glass, not sure if tempered yet, but Thankyou!
