Used freshwater cannister filter

I was just gifted a used freshwater cannister filter (https://www.chewy.com/eheim-classic...DgiHhnj4pVqmW4MTrTX5tcIDV3yYdokRoCl6MQAvD_BwE) that I want to use for my 29 gallon saltwater tank.

I read that I should run it in a bucket of water with a bleach solution, but that seems aggressive. Any suggestions? Any suggestions on filter media?

I just used vinegar and water when I switched from fresh to salt. Ran it for a day and everything was fine. I use live rock rubble and seachem matrix, but you can really use any ceramic media.

thank you! do you remember what percentage vinegar solution you used?

I don't, I just dumped a good amount in. I set a 5 gallon bucket next to my canister, and filled it, and set the canister's input and output in the bucket after I scrubbed out the canister, and just let it run for a day.
