Hey guys quick question . I was wondering if I could do a 3 day run of my setup with a RO DI water and vinegar solution to clean out any Impurities before I begin my tank cycle with sand and live rock.
Its a 180 gallons of water total.

not sure if id wait for the rodi to fill the tank, just to drain it again.

tap and vinegar might work just as well. (if your tds is low)

so tap water and vinegar at 4 gallons water to 1 vinegar ratio and let her rip for 3 day?
well we know its a used system.

was it dry or wet when you bought it?
also you may have better luck cycling as-is and when the cycle is complete doing your massive water change or whatever then.

at 180 gallons. that is a ton of dillution of pollution.

When I bought it 4 years ago it was a fresh saltwater tear down . But it has sat for 4 years empty.
nothing was ever put into it just dust from sitting.

main concerns are the plumbing and pumps that are new item . Don't know what type of chemicals cam be on the surface of the items.

when mother nature gets involved itll be just slime and bacteria. no worries on that.

i think a good hose down, vinegar if there is calcium or bleach if it looks clean will do you fine enough.

let it air dry for a day or so and then fill her up.

lot of bacteria will be habitating it in no time.

Using 80# of Arag-Alive reef sand 40# of Caribsea dry aragonite and 20# of caribsea super natural sand.
75# of dry live rock. Do I cycle before adding my 75# of Live rock. Display tank is 120 gallons.

throw it all in at once. you want all that trash to settle as a family unit. itll be faster and less painful.

Thanks for the help Russ!
just make sure your water is where you want it before you put the liverock in.

eg:
put in sand and dry rock... fill with ro and mix.

after the temp and everything looks good put the liverock in.

itll prevent dieoff
