Since I'm diving head first back into the hobby I decided to set up a mixing station in the garage. I got some plastic water storage tanks but they previously held bleach, will this be an issue? I pressure washed both of them out but worried about leaching. I really want to use these since I already have them cleaned and the mixing station close to being set up but don't want to run into issues later on. Thanks!

I would vote no if you have a poll. I think if a fish died in the future, you would guessing if this is because of the mixing station. Even if the fish just die due to other causes

IMO, if you are using a jug for temporary purpose, I wouldn't worry about whether it had bleach or not. As long it was clean and rinse multiple time. But you are using it for mixing and storage.

Bleach is only bleach in liquid form, if you wash them, and fully dry them out shouldn't be an issue. Can even fill them and add a ton of prime and let them sit a few days. Prime should neutralize all chlorine. You might have some residual tiny bleach smell but won't be an issue.

There is zero bleach smell. I think they sat in a yard for a while with some water in the bottom bc there was a bit of algae I cleaned. Is there a way I can test the rodi I have in the freshwater tank now? The freshwater side is up and running but the saltwater side is a work in progress.

You can use a chlorine test-kit, there are cheap alternatives (test strips on BRS and I am sure on Amazon) and Hannah makes a test kit, but seems overkill for single use, unless you suspect there's chlorine in your tap water and you want to stay on top of it.

Bleach oxidizes fairly quickly. Heat and sunlight will accelerate it. So, if you can sit them outside in the sun with the caps off, the should be good to use after a day or so

Don't under-estimate how long a large container with a tiny opening takes to air out. I'd add a fan to move air through it, if possible.

I'd have no issues using storage tanks that held bleach as long as it wasn't a perfumed version. Pure bleach? No issue.

Pool testing can check Chlorine down to 1 ppm if you want to verify.

Could even get a pool store to test for free.
