I'm doing a bleach cure and considering acid as a next step, since I know they came from a failed tank. Previous owner mentioned some kind of "parasite" worms, but didn't know what kind.

If a tank failed due to "parasite worms" might have had bobbit worms in it or something. Or just exaggerations.

But those things just look like normal feather duster tubes.

Wouldn't do acid though, might turn that rock into sludge.

Yep, feather dusters.

Acid will very likely turn it into sludge. Bleach will turn it into dry rock.

Parasitic worms will die off without a host. Ask the owner more about the worms. Did they get on the fish? Eat the corals? Just kinda creep people out?

I don't think that the tank failed *due* to the worms, but they were the only "undesirable" critter the previous owner mentioned when I asked. Seems like it was just more of a lack-of-time for regular maintenance + moving that motivated him to get rid of it.

Glad to know they're just feather dusters. It's easy to find pictures of live critters to ID, but I had a harder time figuring out what might have been in/on these rocks now that they're dry..

I'll ask more about the worms. Maybe I'll hold off on the acid, but I've got time for curing dry rock after bleach and at least then I'll (maybe?) have a little more control over what's going into a new tank.
