Hey all. I bought a used omega 150 to go on a freshly set up 120g. There is a lot going on with the setup (new and used rock, fresh tank and plumbing, no fish, still cycling, etc.) but I wanted to get some opinions on the skimmer performance. The skimmer is in the correct height water but no matter how I adjust it the bubbles completely overflow the skimmer. Whether the standpipe is completely facing the output or the skimmer it seems to make no difference in bubble output. Pics below of both full open and closed.
Ive removed the collection cup and just have it overflowing at the moment thinking it might have either residue on it or in the tank causing this issue.
Looking for input on whether this is the right course of action or if there is any advice on getting it to calm down.

Don’t suppose you’ve put anything in the tank like “Prime”

The last omega vertex for sale had a valve to adjust the air since they suck a lot and will be corrected with this, It also looks very submerged the level closer to 7 "is better on this model

Hmm. I’ll look into adding the air adjustment valve. The skimmer is in 8” which is what seems to be recommended by Vertex.

7 or 7.5 is better but the valve its a goal.

you may want to use something to cover it while you let it foam over, better yet, put the collection cup on but leave the drain open.

with all those bubbles popping you're gunna get so much salt spray everywhere...
