Got everything for 2 part dosing on brs. I added calcium into a gallon of spring water. I watched brs video and it says filtered water. Does it matter if I mixed it in spring water? I got the spring water because it was 89¢ but mainly needed a gallon tub to mix the 2 part.

Spring water comes from the ground and it has to meet certain purity requirements to be bottled, but I'm not entirely sure on what would be in that spring water.

I would imagine it can't be too terrible. However it very well may have some minerals in it. I would stick with distilled water.

I mixed it already so that’s why I’m asking. Didn’t realize till after it was all mixed...
It should be fine. But since it may have sulfur iron calcium Etc. Those concentrations may change from batch to batch or brand brand.calcium I guess being the one to be concerned with because you want to be able to dial in your dosing amount. Without the water affecting calcium dose. I would say it's fine to use. But after that I would go to distilled water.

So is it safe to use?
Have you a TDS meter? I imagine the spring water would give a high reading. You would need an accurate analysis of just what is in it that gives a TDS reading.
It's not sparkling is it?

Heavy Metals in Bottled Natural Spring Water
New regulations regarding the presence of contaminants in bottled water went into effect in California in January 2009. These requirements include testing, reporting, and notification to regulate the presence of heavy metals in bottled natural spring water sold in California. In the study described in this article, six sources of bottled natural spring water were purchased and analyzed for silver, arsenic, barium, beryllium, cadmium, cobalt, chromium, copper, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, lead, antimony, selenium, thallium, vanadium, and zinc. All of these metals except beryllium, mercury, and thallium were detected in at least one of the bottled natural spring water sources. No concentrations were above either federal or California maximum contaminant levels but arsenic concentrations exceeded California public health goals in all six sources. Improving the California notification requirements for bottled water contaminants would result in a process more similar to the notification process for tap water and would result in better-informed consumers.

Tds reading high 200s. Will it make a high difference if these minerals listed are in my tank? I only mixed 1 gallon of water and I have 125 gal tank plus 40 gal sump. I also won’t be using the entire gallon all at once so not sure if it’s going to be a huge issue

It’s not sparkling water just normal spring water in a gallon jug

200 TDS is fairly High. The concern really is you don't know where that TDS is coming from. You don't know if it is relatively safe minerals or heavy metals.

If it were me I would probably play it safe and ditch it for distilled water. Having said that it is probably not a problem to use one gallon in your large tank. I am just OCD like that.

I just wouldn't risk it myself.
