+1 on white vinegar. Fill up the tank with a solution of that and let is sit, any algae or building will dissolve for the most part and then what doesn't you can wipe it off fairly easy afterwards. Even throw the equipment that needs cleaning in there depending on what it is.

+1 for beer.

You can skimp on the amount of vinegar by putting tank on side. And soaking each side in straight vinegar. A couple hours each.

You could skimp even a little more by putting the vinegar in a spray bottle.

Vinegar is cheap. Just get food store brand as a gallon size. I would just get a few to have around. Good to clean powerheads in.

I have a couple of MP10's I want to clean, how many parts of vinegar to water should I use? And it it a case of just rinsing it off after with water?

Excellent, thanks. We have an Aqua reef 300 to clean out too. Had an extinction level event in there so decommissioned it, soon it's time to start again, so I'll give it a good clean with vinegar and then go again :-).
