Hey folks!

I picked up a 90 gallon corner flow, used and running complete system, about six months ago. Instead of being oriented with the back against the wall, I made it more of a peninsula to close in my fish/frag room.

Anyway, because it was originally with its back against the wall, there is a residue stuck to the glass that I can't remove with a scraper or a razor blade. I didn't think much of it at first, but now that I have been filling out the system for several months, I really want a better viewing experience from that angle.

Here are some photos, any idea how to get this stuff off the glass?

You might have luck with an original, unscented magic eraser :)

Does it sound like sand paper when going over it with a magnetic scrapper? I'd take a straight razor scrapper to it .

I use the original, unscented magic eraser every week in water with no issues, slice a thin 1/8 of inches amount and put between the cleaning magnets. Works well on tough algae. Make sure unscented orginal

Sad to say, no go...

Could the back glass be permanently damaged by the build up of coraline and other algaes?

I've got something similar on one wall of a Biocube I picked up used - 2 years and nothing has touched it. It almost looks like algae etched/stained the glass.

That being said, I let some plating Montipora grow over that section of the glass and it's hidden now... just looks a little strange from that side.

I picked up a used 125 and no matter what I did, I could not get rid of the water etching on the inside. Got my daughter's RS Max 170 and hers has the same issue. Might try the magic eraser. Before set up, I tried bartender's friend Glass cleaner, turtle wax, and a bunch of other ideas from the web. Could not get rid of cloudiness on inside.. Might be sort of the same type of thing.
