So I picked this up used for a great deal and have a question. It appears that the previous owner glued his drain lines in place into the sump and then just cut them off. I’m not really sure though. What are my options? Thanks

I'm having a hard time seeing detail, but it looks possible that they used;
Slip/MPT on the top and FPT/Slip on the bottom. The o-ring on top of the glass would possibly be there to keep salt creep or splashing at bay, although I see no need for it with an open-top setup.

Can you post another picture without reflections? I might be seeing a mirrored image of the top part of the plumbing ...

Try to get a shot showing the upper and lower plumbing together

It's just the top part I'm concerned about. I think the bottom part is as it should be.....female threaded.

I was looking for another pic to see how you could take it apart.
Once apart, you could try using a couple channel lock pliers to see if you can separate the old pipe from the black fittings.
Or don't take it all apart, and just attempt to remove the 'cut' piece. Just safer once in pieces.
If it's not glued, it should break free with 2 pairs of pliers using some twisting force.

Could always put a union on the ends of those stubs. When I built my system, I put boat load of unions in. Makes it easy to disassemble easy if ever needed. Or even put a true union ball valve on there.

That was going to be my next suggestion, short of removing the cut pieces.

That would be a better idea for future removal
Or even put a true union ball valve on there.
Since there are 2 drains, I would go with a true union gate valve on 1 and make it into a herbie drain.

Only issue I see is getting all the plumbing the perfect lengths so the o-rings in the unions seal without stress. It will definitely take some test-fitting if you use only ridgid plumbing.

Spa flex pipe works great for those joints. Can make it a bit longer and flex it into place.

It's not that hard.
Measure twice, cut once.

Yes, with the added purchase of a separate solvent, but not a big deal

OK, but maybe not for the OP since they are asking for plumbing help to begin with ;)

I'd be curious to see a better picture of those black fittings. Possibly they are giving some wiggle room already.
I see o-rings ... are they there to seal another set of fittings, or just being used as a splash guard? And this means the fittings float already ...

Looking closer at the first post pic, it looks as if the old owner was using the pipe closest to the camera as an emergency drain, and the one farthest as the main drain in a Herbie setup.

Go with the above suggestions;
Install a slip/slip union on the emerg and a slip/slip true union gate valve on the main drain.
If you can't source a true union gate valve locally, use a pair of slip/mpt fittings with a fpt gate valve.

It ain't that hard to read a tape measure. It's just numbers.

In this situation, I don't think trial and error are going to work out well.

I know for me the first time I worked with PVC there was a learning curve.
Did you get your very first joints just right? Cut the pipe 'just' the right length and pushed-twisted the joints together perfectly?

Just trying to save the OP some grief and added costs of wasted materials.

Whatever..

If you make everything complicated and scary sounding nobody would learn anything.

Whatever..
Really?

If you don't give people pointers, they will make all the same mistakes we have.
Then what's the point of this forum?

I don't see any of what I've posted coming across as 'scary'.
What I do see is me trying to help the OP avoid pitfalls.

Actually my intent is to use it as a Herbie style overflow. If I could get them apart I had thought of just putting couplers on, but hadn’t thought of just putting unions there. Thanks for the input.
