So i bought my tank and supplies a few days ago and put it together last night a salt water tank by the way and went to test the water only to realize i bought a freshwater test kit now my question is can i use it to test saltwater?

I have a marine test kit but will watch this thread as I am interested to know if you can use a fresh water kit.

I read the box and it says it test for ph high range ph ammonia nitrite and nitrate what all would i be missing

Mine tests for... High Range PH, ammonia, nitrate and nitrite.

Once I get coral I will need to test for a couple more calcium being one.

Right now my tank is only FOWLR.

I just don't know if the test solution is different for Marine compared to Freshwater.

Well from what i have have read online is it will work i just need the chart card to bad i cant find one online
;):banghead:

Which maker of the test kit? The cards are easily obtainable.

Mine is also A PO. I am testing water tomorrow. I will test again with the freshwater kit to see if I get the same PH results.

So i went down to the local fish store and they told me i would be fine the difference is the freshwater just has an add bottle of low ph he also said the cards are the same even pulled a bunch of spares out to give me for added peace of mind:)

Well yeah you have the extra ph and high ph is a little off color but the are pretty close.......plus i guess its good that he gave me salt water cards too
