Using a non adhesive leveling mat INSIDE the aquarium between rock and glass bottom

Not sure what forum this goes under so I put it under aquascaping also. Has anyone ever used one of those aquarium non adhesive leveling matts as a bairier between the rock and the glass bottom of an aquarium to prevent scratching etc? Thanks in advance

Most people use HDPE starboard and pvc sheets.
Who knows what that neoprene rubber would leach out over time.....

No if you want something easy to get use plastic eggcrate from the hardware store

I used some fluorescent light egg crate diffuser. It serves two purposes: prevent glass-scratching and keep my rock from moving. The rock really locks in and doesn't move. I put sand in after setting up my rock. Even if something digs up the sand, my rocks don't move. I have no worry about rocks collapsing and scratching the glass on sides of tank.
