I am planning on buying my first apex unit. Not sure if I’m going with the new EL or the 2016. I want to mount a tablet on my tank stand and have it always on showing the controller information.

I’ve watched the videos from apex showing how to setup the tablet for this purpose. I was going to get the Nuvision one they recommend, but through my work I can get a free Fire Hd tablet.

What would I be missing not having the third column? Anyone using a fire tablet and recommend it?

Thank you.

I use a fire tablet and it works great. All i really care about is seeing temp/salt/PH and the controls for feed mode. So it works great for that. Anything else I just use my laptop for.

If you are just using it as a display to view current tank parameters then I think any of the tablets will work. I'm not sure about the Nuvision but my Fire tablet is extremly slow if I try and do anything in Fusion with it. For control and programming etc. use a computer.

I’d Pick up a used older iPad or iPad mini.

I have the fire tablet and it’s slow but after you set it up it’s good as a monitor.
