I know many people use bleach to regenerate their Purigen, and also when they wash their filter socks in the washing machine.
My question is, what’s the ingredient difference between regular old bleach and splashless bleach?
Purigen’s regeneration instructions clearly state not to use splashless bleach. I’m assuming there’s some kind’ve binder ingredient that’s not reef friendly?
I’ve been to 4 different stores in my area that sell bleach, and they all only have splashless.
I’ve also read on R2R that many of you soak your filter socks in Prime after washing them in bleach and letting them dry. My understanding is that once the bleach is fully dry is will not cause harm to your tank. Anyone have a different understanding?
I know with Purigen you have to soak in Prime afterwards since it never fully dries.
Please feel free to share your best practices in using bleach as well.
Thank you in advance!
