Hi..i need a stand for my quarantine tank. Its 15 gallon tank and im planning to use bricks and then lay a piece of polystrene on it as the stand. (I have tons of bricks lying around, so it will save cost). My concern is does brick produce any smell or anything that may dissolve in the water and be harmful?. Thank you

And if you are still worried about that dust, or salt water spills leaving nasty looking residue on your pristine brickwork then there are always waterproof coatings (both transparent and coloured) available that seal your brickwork. I have seen them marketed to solve all kinds of issues with old brick buildings and to protect new brickwork from the elements.

Other than being really heavy, I see no problem with using brick. Show us some pictures when you're done, I'm curious. :)

Leveling would be my concern.
