These aquarium light controllers can accept an input voltage of between 12 and 20 volts and up to 100w.

The black box leds has 2 drivers which output about 80w each and I believe their output is 12v.

Would connecting this controller between driver and leds successfully dim the leds?

The unit already has dimmer knobs which I assume adjusts the voltage to the leds....the same as what these controllers do.

Hmmm

I highly doubt your "black box" driver outputting 12v, because that would power about 3-4 LEDs.

Most drivers in these boxes are 80-100v output per channel. Then, some are dimmed via 0-10v analog, some 10v PWM, and some 5v PWM.

So long story short, this gadget is not likely to achieve the result you desire.
