Using Cyanoacrylate underwater to bond two acrylic?

I need to plug a mesh inlet so no water can go through, and wanted to use superglue (cyanoacrylate) to glue a piece of acrylic on it but because I'm stupid I filled it with water already.
From what I've read, the CA will bond with the acrylic in a molecular way, will this release any toxins into the water?

Shouldn't be an issue as far as any toxins in the water. Getting a water tight joint might be a fun excersise in patience. You can also try a two part acrylic glue like Weldon #40.

If it’s Black, it’s probably ABS. I’ve had problems permanently gluing Acrylic to ABS, Probably due to different expansion rates, and from some water absorption. ABS to ABS so far has held up, for about a year.
