Using flash for fish!

After seeing the AWESOME image taken by our own gparr, I decided to see what I could do with what I have.

All of these images are taken with my 24-70 lens, not a true macro, but a nice lens nonetheless. Anyway, I hope you enjoy my attempt, and please feel free to add your own attempts in this thread.

Thanks guys, what do you think of the silhouette of the chromis? It was completely by accident, but I thought it looked different!

my fish are too crazy to let me setup additional lights at this point.

I so much as walk by the tank, and every last fish is up at the glass going crazy...

Its crazy, they recognize me. My wife can go up there all day long and nothing, they see me and all hell breaks loose.

All of them are awesome but honestly the silhouette of the Chromis id my favorite. Different is good!

how did you do the silhouette? is it just a matter of having the flash set off a few milliseconds before the shutter releases (so the light is past the fish, but still on the rocks)?

Nope, it was the shadow of my canopy. The fish are closer to the front, and were in the shadow, the corals behind weren't.

Heres my new one...some say not reef safe, but from everyone ive talked to that actually has one said they just pick on crustaceans.
