So I set up a jbj nano 24 aio a few months back and everything seems to be going well. Have some softies a few lps along with 3 fish and some snails. Everyone and everything is doing well for the most part, have a Duncan that doesn’t want to open back up but either it will or it won’t that’s not what this post is about.
so this is my first tank with a apex, I went with the el. Well I can’t lie this thing is pretty awesome. But every morning around 6am the ph drops down causing the alarm to pop up on my phone and constantly pops up until the lights have been on awhile. Of course I understand why the ph drops at night and I wish I had a place for a fuge or algae reactor but those are out of the question. So my next idea is Kalk dosing.
The idea I had was to use the brs 1.1 doser to dose fully saturated Kalk water starting around 4am until around 8am, that’s when the light comes on. Just to help maintain a semi stable ph. My concern is raising my alk and cal to high in the process. My normal maintenance is weekly 3 gal water changes vacuuming the sand bed.
at night it’s dropping down to 7.7 and during the day it’s getting to 8.1
so is this a plausible idea? Any other ideas and or suggestions would be appreciated
