I am currently using reef crystal salt and have ato with kalkwasher in it. if I move to sps do I need to dose too? I guess im confused they both accomplish the same task right?

Calcium and Carbonates are equally proportional when using kalkwasser. Easiest way to add kalkwasser is in your ATO through evaporation. Everytime your ATO kicks on its adds these things back into the tank in equal amounts. What you would have to do is fiddle around with how much kalkwasser you add to your ATO you would want enough in the ATO to replenish the tank based on how many times your ATO kicks on a day. Not a good option if your evaporation rate fluctuates a lot. Also if by some chance your ATO pump doesn't shut off you are going to nuke the tank with the pH spike it'll cause. Although there is nothing wrong with using kalkwasser. I personally prefer dosing two part and magnesium through a doser, much less of a hassle and keeps the tank more stable because it doses everything equally throughout the day. All I had to do was figure out my consumption, set the doser to dose the correct amount and forget about it.
