Hey All,
I did something really dumb this week. I usually use my generic refractometer under room fluorescent lights and I can see the scale just fine. I recently updated the generic refractometer to a D-D seawater refractomer, and this unit has a very small scale and requires more light than my flourescent to read it. I know that natural sunlight is the best source, but it was dark out, so I viewed this refractomer with my right eye under an AI Sol LED (maybe 5-6" below the whites). I may have look into the refractometer for around 20-30 seconds. Immediately afterwards, my right eye vision became blurry. This blurry vision has now lasted almost 3 days and will not go away and I've always been 20/20. I don't know if this is pure coincidence or I may have damage my eye. I have a doctor's appointment this week, so I will find out, but just wanted to know from others who may have experienced the same. If anything, just to share that this practice of using LED as a light source for a refractometer may not be the best idea. Thanks for your response.
