Can you use a fresh bottle of the Live (black cap) Phyto-feast to start a phytoplankton culture?

Furthermore, I understand it’s a mix and wonder if a home culture will eventually settle into a single strain due to competition but that’s ok with me.

Its not advised to mix multiple strains as you will have a lot of continuously dying cells as your culture matures due to the reason you outlined.
It can become a headache as you would have to seperate the active cells often and your fertilizer might need to be adjusted as well.

It can be done but i wouldnt try to do it long term.
